Inspired by the concepts of the New York School, students Simon Stirnberg and Florian Zeeh are undertaking the construction of a 2 x 2 x 0.4 m large light mobile – a Libiles – made from wood, mist, curved mirrors and electronics. The involvement of the compositions of Earl Brown and the works of Alexander Calder is an important component for the students. In their project they reflect on the process of creation itself and break away from the traditional work concept of art. Emphasis is given to a change instead of the outcome and the resulting interferences are unpredictable.
The project came about as part of the final exam in the specialisation module Visual Music 2 with Andreas Kolinski and Prof. Dr. Heike Sperling.
