Requirements for the Orchestral Instruments master’s program – Bassoon major
Master of Music / Major in Orchestral Instruments
1. Preselection
For the pre-selection, a total of 4 uncut videos showing artistic presentations have to be submitted with the application. The total duration of the 4 videos should not exceed 20 minutes. The following requirements apply:
- Two complete movements from a concerto by A. Vivaldi chosen freely with piano accompaniment. 1 uncut video.
- One fast movement, exposition and development from a concerto by W. A. Mozart (without cadenzas) or by C. M. von Weber or by J. N. Hummel with piano accompaniment. 1 uncut video.
- One work for bassoon solo from the following repertoire. 1 uncut video.
- Isang Yun – Monologue
- O. Berg - Vertigo
- E. Denissow – Sonata 1st movement
- H. Hollinger – Klaus-Ur
- K. H. Stockhausen – In Friendship
- Orchestral parts. 1 uncut video
- Beethoven - 4th symphony, 4th movement
- M. Ravel – Bolero
- D. Shostakovich - 9th symphony, u. and 5th movement
2. Presence Examination
The presence examination includes the following parts:
- Artistic presentation: the same repertoire requirements apply as in the preselection. The same works may be presented as in the preselection.
- A short reflective talk related to the artistic presentation.
The examination board reserves the right to make a selection from the prepared pieces.
