Music studies for the armed forces
Everyone has seen them before, whether on television, live at the Grand Tattoo or on the concert stage: The soldiers of the military music service of the Bundeswehr.
The training of musicians takes place in close cooperation with the university. It lasts four years. Wind, cymbals and percussion instruments are taught as well as keyboards, as all these instrument groups and instruments are used in a modern symphonic wind orchestra. The training concludes with the music-technical section of the sergeant’s examination, and is the degree for the professional military musician (m/f), who wishes to be assigned to a music corps of the Bundeswehr as an orchestra musician on the sergeant’s career path.
