Experimental Lab

The experimental laboratory provides a space for experimental projects and seminars that would not be possible in classical studios and exhibition rooms. Here, a central concern is to rethink media and bring algorithmic processes into new contexts. Computer art, media composition, network music in ensembles, conversational art, circuit bending, live coding, self-built circuits, sonification of data, interactive installations and experimental sound synthesis are examples of operating principles in the experimental laboratory. Particular attention is directed towards research and open-ended work, the development of methods between analog and digital principles (hybrid sound computing) and open source software (FLOSS).

A residency in the experimental laboratory provides external composers, researchers, artists and theorists with the opportunity of contributing their own projects to the Institute.
