Janosch Brenneisen
Assistant professor of Technical Aural Skills Training

Janosch Brenneisen was born in 1981 in rural east Westphalia. From 2001 to 2005 he studied Jazz Percussion at the Amsterdam Conservatory and from 2004 to 2010 earned a Master’s Degree in Audio and Video Technology at the Technical University and the Robert Schumann School of Music and Media Düsseldorf. In 2009 he won First Prize at the AES Student Recording Competition in New York in the category Non-Classical Surround. From 2006 to 2015 Janosch Brenneisen worked freelance in various functions with WDR and ZDF and for various private production companies, including Bonito TV (Harald Schmidt Show). From 2010 to 2017 he ran the S/RENE recording studio in Essen, where he produced numerous albums and worked with well-known artists. Janosch Brenneisen has been working as a production engineer at ZDF Landesstudio NRW since 2016, where he is the team leader for studio- and post-production. After gaining initial national and international experience in the Youth DJ Jazz Orchestra NRW and the Federal Jazz Orchestra, his music career included engagements as a stage musician at the Schauspielhaus Düsseldorf and European tours with Kris Pohlmann. Since the 2018/19 winter semester Janosch Brenneisen has been teaching Technical Aural Skills at the Institute of Music and Media of the Robert Schumann University in the Artistic Music Production master’s program.
