Assistant Professor for Double Bass and Electric Bass

www.nicobrandenburg.de Nico Brandenburg, born 1970, studied E-bass from 1993 to 1998 at the University of the Arts in Arnhem (Music Teaching Diploma) and subsequently completed the course in Jazz Double Bass at Folkwang University in Essen under John Goldsby (WDR Big Band).  He plays electric upright bass and double bass with equal enthusiasm and skill. His musical range extends from jazz and groove, all the way to World Music.  In the course of his numerous performances and tours and also various CD, radio and TV productions, this versatility has brought him together with artists from widely differing cultural backgrounds, including Rafael Cortés (Flamenco artist), Noshaafarin (Persian singer), John Gibbons (backing singer for Yusuf Islam, among others), TV music quiz Hast Du Töne (on VOX), RAW Artistic (multi-cultural dance project in Cologne), the Düsseldorf Symphonic, the WDR Big Band, Düsseldorfer City Theatre (Schauspielhaus) etc.  At the present time, Nico Brandenburg is working with the Sebastian Gahler TrioLuis, the Mathias Höderath Trio and the Tom Gaebel Band.  Since 2010, Nico Brandenburg has been Assistant Professor for Double Bass and Electric Bass at the Institute For Music And Media of the Robert Schumann School of Music and Media in Düsseldorf.
