Biographical
- Combined sound and image studies at the Robert Schumann Hochschule Düsseldorf in the Sound and Image Department and at the Düsseldorf University of Applied Sciences in the Sound and Image Technology program of the Electrical Engineering Department.
- Studied Musicology, Theater, Film, and Television Studies as well as Phonetics at the University of Cologne. Doctorate.
- Graduate of the IT Certificate Program in Historical-Cultural Information Processing at the University of Cologne.
- University certificate in Basics of Business Administration from the Hamburger Fern-Hochschule.
Additional
- Participant in the German Research Foundation’s (DFG’s) Research College 427, “Media and Cultural Communication,” in the sub-project C10, “Artistic Interactivity in Hybrid Networks.”
- Development and teaching of courses in Systematic Musicology (ISSSM) for the Erasmus International Summer Schools. Participation in the international spring schools “Language and Music in Cognition” at the University of Cologne. Member of the Organizing Committee of the International Conference of Students of Systematic Musicology (SysMus).
- Many years of professional experience outside the university as a sound engineer in the music and radio broadcasting industries, responsible for music productions, broadcasts, and recordings. Recipient of several awards, including the Echo Klassik, Goldener Bobby, Preis der deutschen Schallplattenkritik (German Record Critics’ Award), and the Diapason d’Or.
- Development of surround sound miking techniques and surround sound simulcast tools.
Since 2021, Dr. Andreas Gernemann-Paulsen has been teaching Surround Sound Production in the Classical Music Recording concentration at the Institute for Music and Media at the Robert Schumann Hochschule Düsseldorf.
