sub:merge

In a free association of memory and emotion, Benjamín Herrera Lizana wrote a three-part text. In response, Amotken (Mexico) composed a piece of music, which was later interpreted into visual material by Iván Stevens (Chile). Using this material along with videos from his childhood, Benjamín created an experimental short film. Accompanied by audio-reactive visuals and complemented by an installation, the film offers an intimate perspective on the artist – a self-portrait.

sub:merge was Benjamín Herrera Lizana’s final project in the Visual Music program at the Institute for Music and Media at the Robert Schumann Hochschule Düsseldorf. The work was supervised by Prof. Dr. Heike Sperling and Marcus Schmickler.
