Starting with a DNA sequence and using targeted tampering, Konrad Simon’s audiovisual work manipulation explores the influence of humans on complex algorithms. The result is a space where the duality of biology and technology coalesces, opening up new perspectives on humankind’s relationship to our own creation. The reciprocal relationship between human influence and the algorithmic structures that shape both our biological existence and digital reality thereby becomes tangible. Sound and visuals can be influenced and modified by hand movements.

The performance manipulation was Simon’s final project in the Visual Music program at the Institute for Music and Media at the Robert Schumann Hochschule Düsseldorf. The work was supervised by Prof. Dr. Heike Sperling and Marcus Schmickler.
