Playing in the forest, the feeling of safety and security, basic trust…What was any of it good for when you end up in the adult world and are forced to redefine yourself? Who are you, actually, without your familiar surroundings and your parents, who have always told you what your life should look like? What is it like to break away from who you thought you were?

The interactive VR experience Kindswald addresses the reality of growing up, of searching for and discovering oneself anew, of losing the creativity and naïve freedom of childhood and gaining a new, independent strength. It’s not an easy path. Where will it lead in the end?

Kindswald was Lena Ruzicka’s final project in the Visual Music program at the Institute for Music and Media at the Robert Schumann Hochschule Düsseldorf. The work was supervised by Prof. Dr. Heike Sperling and Marcus Schmickler, and Leon Monschauer.
