Stadtrausch (Urban Sounds)
Stadtrausch is the name of Daniel Rheinbay’s final project in the Media Composition major concentration. Supported by students Paul Schön (overall artistic direction, set design, media design), Jonas Scheler (multi-camera direction) and Nils Schröder (sound engineer), he implemented his vision of a complete concert work unifying music, stage design and film. He was responsible for conception, composition and musical direction, and played the drums himself.
His musical exploration of the question, What does a city/my city sound like? combines an orchestral ensemble with a big band and brings together multiple stylistic influences ranging from Impressionism and Gershwin to Third Stream, 1960s film music to drum’n’bass and Dilla beats.
